20 Best Rooftop Bars in Bangkok (2026 Guide)

Best Rooftop Bars in Bangkok

By NaJade · DJ in Bangkok · Published August 14, 2026

I play rooftops in this city for a living. Here are the twenty worth your evening — with what the music is actually like, what time to arrive, and which ones will turn you away at the lift.

Bangkok has more rooftop bars than any city has a right to, and the gap between the best and the worst is enormous. Some are genuinely magical rooms with a serious sound system and a crowd that stays until closing. Others are a lift queue, a 1,500-baht martini, and a photograph. As a DJ who works these rooms, I pay attention to things most guides skip: what the music policy actually is, which night the room comes alive, what time the sunset crowd turns over, and where the dress code is enforced rather than merely printed. This is that list — twenty rooftops, sorted by what you actually want from the night.

Bangkok’s rooftop bars split into three price tiers: 200–350 baht a cocktail at the everyday spots, 350–600 at the mid-range crowd-pleasers, and 800–1,500 at the bucket-list towers. Arrive 45 minutes before sunset (roughly 5:45–6:15pm) for a rail seat. Smart casual means closed shoes and no shorts at most high-rise venues — Vertigo is the strictest in the city. And from June to October, an afternoon storm can close an open deck with no warning.

Before You Go: The Five Things That Decide Your Night

  • Arrive 45 minutes before sunset. Bangkok sunsets land roughly between 5:45pm and 6:30pm year-round. Get there by 5:15–5:30pm and you’ll have a rail seat; arrive at 7pm on a Friday and you’ll be standing behind three rows of phones.
  • Dress code is enforced at the lift, not the bar. Closed shoes and long trousers for men clear almost every door in this guide. Shorts are the single most common reason people get turned away.
  • Know your tier. There’s no shame in the 250-baht rooftops — some have better music than the famous ones. But don’t arrive at Vertigo expecting Cloud 47 prices.
  • Check the sky in rainy season. June through October, open decks close during storms and indoor seating is limited. A 10-minute forecast check saves a wasted taxi.
  • The BTS stops around midnight. If you’re staying past that, budget for a Grab. This catches out more visitors than anything else.

The Bucket-List Towers

1. Sky Bar at Lebua

The gold-domed bar on the 63rd floor of State Tower, and the one from The Hangover Part II. It is spectacular, it is standing-only, and it is the most expensive drink in this guide — expect roughly 1,000–1,500 baht a cocktail plus a minimum spend on weekend nights. Music: live jazz through the evening rather than a DJ. Best night: a weeknight, to dodge the lift queue. Arrive: 5:30pm. Closed shoes and long trousers for men are non-negotiable. Worth doing once; the martini buys a better evening almost anywhere else on this list.

2. Vertigo & Moon Bar at Banyan Tree

Sixty-one floors up, shaped like the deck of a ship, with no walls and nothing above you. This is the most genuinely dramatic rooftop in Bangkok and the one I’d choose for an occasion — a proposal, an anniversary, impressing someone who matters. Music: low, unobtrusive, deliberately not a party. Best night: any, but book ahead Friday to Sunday for a rail table. Arrive: 5:45pm. Note the dress code: Vertigo Grill is the strictest in the city and a jacket is expected for men; Moon Bar one level down is smart casual and more forgiving.

3. Mahanakhon Sky Beach

The highest open-air bar in the guide, on top of King Power Mahanakhon, and the view genuinely justifies the altitude — Bangkok laid out in every direction with the river curling through it. Entry is around 1,050 baht and typically includes a drink, which softens the sting. Music: DJ-led, house and lounge, louder than Vertigo. Best night: Friday or Saturday for atmosphere; a weeknight for photographs. Arrive: 5:30pm for the sunset transition. Smart casual, strictly applied.

4. Sirocco

Sky Bar’s seated sibling at State Tower, and the answer if you want the same iconic view with a table and a proper dinner rather than a standing spot. Modern European with Thai influences, priced accordingly. Music: a live band most nights — this is a dining room, not a dance floor. Best night: any; the restaurant holds the best-positioned tables for diners, so booking dinner is the reliable way to get a great seat at this address. Arrive: book for 6pm and watch the light go.

5. Red Sky at Centara Grand

Fifty-five floors above CentralWorld, with a lit arch framing the skyline and a good wine programme. It’s the most central of the big rooftops — you can walk here from Siam shopping and be drinking within ten minutes. Music: a resident DJ from mid-evening, safe crowd-pleasing house. Best night: Thursday to Saturday. Arrive: 5:45pm. Closed shoes and long trousers for men after 7pm; there’s a higher champagne bar above if you want the quieter version.

Sukhumvit: The Rooftops With Actual Atmosphere

6. Octave Rooftop

The long-standing expat favourite, and for good reason: three connected levels rising to a 360-degree circular top deck, mid-range prices, and a crowd that stays late. If someone asks me for one rooftop recommendation in Sukhumvit, this is usually it. Music: genuinely DJ-driven and it builds — early evening is lounge, after 9pm it turns into a proper party. Best night: Friday. Arrive: 5:30pm for sunset seats or 9:30pm if you’re coming for the music. Smart casual; tailored shorts past the knee usually pass.

7. Tichuca

The glowing jellyfish-tree rooftop on the 46th floor of the T-One building, and the current benchmark for a rooftop that’s also a night out. It’s a beach-club concept in the sky, it’s loud, and it’s where the young Bangkok crowd goes. Cocktails run roughly 350–600 baht. Music: the most club-like of the big rooftops — commercial house and EDM, a real DJ booth, volume that means business. Best night: Friday and Saturday. Arrive: before 6pm — it does not take reservations, and the queue after 8pm on a weekend is real.

8. Above Eleven

Thirty-three floors up on Soi 11, with a garden-in-the-sky layout, Peruvian-Japanese food that’s better than it needs to be, and a view straight down the Sukhumvit canyon. It’s been a fixture for over a decade without going stale. Music: DJ-led, deep and disco-leaning early, more upbeat late. Best night: Thursday or Saturday. Arrive: 6pm; book on weekends. Smart casual — closed shoes preferred but not always mandatory.

9. Pastel

Mediterranean rooftop on Soi 11 that traded altitude for atmosphere and won. Think rosé, tapas that punch above the price, live saxophone over the DJ, and a crowd that ends up dancing between the tables. It’s currently the place to be seen in Nana. Music: DJ plus live sax — the most “party” of the mid-range rooftops. Best night: Friday and Saturday. Arrive: book for dinner around 7:30pm and stay; it’s a hotspot and walk-ins struggle on weekends.

10. Brewski

A craft-beer rooftop on the 30th floor of the Radisson Blu near Asok, and my pick when I want a view without a dress code or a 600-baht cocktail. Twelve-plus taps, a long bottle list, and a relaxed room where nobody’s performing. Music: a DJ playing background house at conversational volume — this is a talking rooftop. Best night: any weeknight; it’s an excellent Monday. Arrive: 6pm. No strict dress code, which makes it the easiest yes in this guide.

11. Spectrum at Hyatt Regency

Three floors near the top of the Hyatt Regency on Sukhumvit, and one of the better-sounding rooftops in the city — the lounge level is built with music in mind rather than as an afterthought. Mid-range at roughly 350–500 baht. Music: live band and DJ depending on the level and the night; the top deck is the view, the lounge is the sound. Best night: Friday. Arrive: 6pm. Smart casual.

12. Cielo Sky Bar

Out east near Phra Khanong, high above W District, and the rooftop locals use when they don’t want tourists. Prices sit in the everyday-to-mid range, the view stretches back toward the city core, and the crowd is almost entirely Thai and resident. Music: DJ-led house, unpretentious, and it gets going properly on weekends. Best night: Saturday. Arrive: 6:30pm. Relaxed dress code. Pair it with the street food downstairs and you have a complete night for the price of two Sky Bar cocktails.

13. Sky on 20

The Novotel rooftop off Sukhumvit Soi 20, and one of the genuine bargains — drinks from roughly 200–350 baht with a clean view over the Asok cluster. It’s not glamorous and that’s exactly the appeal. Music: playlist or light DJ, background level. Best night: weeknights, when the happy hour makes it absurd value. Arrive: 5:30pm for the sunset and the promotion. No real dress code.

Silom, Sathorn and Ploenchit

14. Park Society at SO/ Bangkok

Twenty-nine floors above Sathorn with the best green view in the city — Lumpini Park spread out below, which after a week of Bangkok concrete is unexpectedly moving. Design-hotel styling, strong cocktails, and a smaller crowd than the tower bars. Music: DJ, deep house and downtempo, tastefully quiet. Best night: Thursday or Friday. Arrive: 5:45pm and ask for a park-facing seat. Smart casual.

15. Cloud 47

Forty-seven floors up in Silom at roughly 250–450 baht a drink, which makes it one of the best value-per-metre rooftops in Bangkok. It’s a big, slightly rough-edged terrace rather than a polished hotel deck, and it’s all the better for it. Music: live band and DJ sets, loud and cheerful. Best night: Friday. Arrive: 6pm. Relaxed dress code — this is the rooftop you can wear sneakers to.

16. Zoom Sky Bar at Anantara Sathorn

A quieter, more grown-up rooftop with a long view down Sathorn and a garden-terrace feel. It rarely gets slammed, which is precisely why I like it for a conversation you actually want to have. Music: low DJ or playlist. Best night: any weeknight. Arrive: 6pm. Smart casual.

17. Char at Hotel Indigo

On Wireless Road, this is a rooftop with a genuine point of view — good grilled food, a serious whisky list, and a view over the embassy district’s tree cover. Mid-range and consistently well run. Music: background DJ, jazz and soul leaning. Best night: Thursday. Arrive: 6:30pm. Smart casual.

Riverside and the Old City

18. SIN at Avani+ Riverside

Twenty-six floors above the Chao Phraya on the Thonburi side, with the best river-and-skyline combination in the city — you get the towers and the water in one frame, which the Sukhumvit rooftops can’t offer. Music: DJ-led, house, builds nicely late. Best night: Friday or Saturday. Arrive: 5:45pm and book a rail table a few days ahead for weekends. Smart casual.

19. Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton

A glass-walled circular jazz lounge above the river — air-conditioned, which in April is not a small thing. The live jazz here is properly good rather than decorative, and the room is built to listen in. Music: live jazz nightly; this is a listening rooftop. Best night: any; the band schedule matters more than the day. Arrive: 7pm, after the sunset crowd thins. Smart casual.

20. Eagle Nest at Sala Rattanakosin

Small, low, and completely different from everything else here: a modest terrace in the Old City looking directly across the river at Wat Arun, lit up after dark. No altitude, no DJ, no dress code drama — just the single most beautiful view in Bangkok. Music: quiet playlist, deliberately. Best night: any, but it’s tiny — arrive before 6pm or you won’t get the front row. Pair with dinner in the Old City. If you only do one rooftop that isn’t about height, do this one.

A Note From NaJade

Here’s the thing I’d tell a friend visiting: the famous rooftops and the good rooftops are not the same list. Sky Bar and Vertigo are extraordinary views, and you should see one of them once — but if you want an actual night, with music that goes somewhere and a room that fills rather than rotates, you want Octave, Tichuca, Pastel, or SIN. The rooftops I go back to on my own time are the unglamorous ones: Brewski on a Monday, Cielo on a Saturday, Eagle Nest when I want to remember why I live here. My practical advice is unromantic but it’s the difference between a great evening and an expensive queue — go early, wear closed shoes, check the rain radar between June and October, and know what time you’re getting home before the BTS shuts. Do that and this city’s roofline will do the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best rooftop bar in Bangkok?
It depends what you want from the night. For the most dramatic view and a special occasion, Vertigo & Moon Bar at Banyan Tree is the strongest choice. For the highest open-air deck, Mahanakhon Sky Beach. For an actual night out with real DJ music and a crowd that stays late, Octave or Tichuca on Sukhumvit. For the most beautiful view in the city rather than the highest, Eagle Nest looking across at Wat Arun.
How much do drinks cost at Bangkok rooftop bars?
There are three broad tiers. Everyday rooftops such as Cloud 47, Sky on 20 and Brewski run roughly 200–350 baht a cocktail. Mid-range crowd-pleasers like Octave, Tichuca, Above Eleven and Red Sky sit around 350–600 baht. Bucket-list towers — Sky Bar at Lebua, Vertigo, Mahanakhon — run from about 800 up to 1,500 baht, and some add a weekend minimum spend or an entry fee that includes a drink.
What should I wear to a rooftop bar in Bangkok?
Closed shoes and long trousers clear almost every door. Shorts are the single most common reason people are turned away, and the check happens at the lift rather than the bar. Smart casual is the standard at mid-range and upper-tier venues: no flip-flops, no sleeveless shirts for men, no athletic wear. Vertigo Grill is the strictest in the city and expects a jacket for men. Casual rooftops like Brewski, Cloud 47 and Tichuca are far more relaxed.
What time should I arrive at a Bangkok rooftop bar?
Aim to arrive 45 minutes before sunset — around 5:15 to 5:30pm — since Bangkok sunsets fall roughly between 5:45pm and 6:30pm year-round. That gets you a seat at the rail for the city-to-night transition, which is the best twenty minutes of the evening. Popular venues fill quickly after 7pm, especially Friday and Saturday. If you’re coming for the music rather than the view, arriving around 9:30pm works better at DJ-led rooftops like Octave.
Do I need a reservation for Bangkok rooftop bars?
Most operate first-come, first-served, and walk-ins are usually fine on weeknights or before 6pm. Booking ahead genuinely helps for a rail-side table on Friday to Sunday at Vertigo, Sky Bar, SIN, Octave and Pastel. Tichuca does not take reservations at all, so arrive early. One useful trick: at venues with an attached restaurant, such as Sirocco or Red Sky, booking dinner secures the best-positioned tables that bar guests can’t get.
Are Bangkok rooftop bars open in rainy season?
They’re open, but open-air decks close during storms and it happens with little warning between June and October. Staff will move guests indoors where possible, though indoor seating is limited and the view is the point. Check a rain radar before you set out, and consider a covered or glass-walled option such as Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton, which is air-conditioned and unaffected by weather. Calling ahead on a stormy afternoon is worth the two minutes.
